The contractor for the €450m N5 Ballaghaderreen to Scramogue road project has been revealed by Roscommon County Council. A spokesperson for the council confirmed to the Roscommon Herald that the main construction contract for the scheme has been awarded to Wills Bros. Ltd, Ballylahan Bridge, Foxford, Co. Mayo on October 25th last. Cllr Callaghan said he is aware the main contract had been awarded and office sites are being set in place. In September, The Minister for Transport, Eamon Ryan, announced that the N5 project had been approved by Cabinet and would progress to the construction phase. Works on this major scheme, one of the biggest in the country, came to a sudden standstill more than a year ago following the collapse of the main contractor Roadbridge.
